1st Semester 8th Grade US History
Study Guide


1.William Henry Harrison-Harrison was governor of Indiana. He was involved in the Battle of Tippecanoe. Wile Tecumseh was away Harrison attacked the Prophetstown. He feared that the natives would ally with the British.
2.Primary Source- It is created by a person who lived the event.
3.Secondary Source- It is created by a person who did not witness (live) the vent.
4.Separation of Powers- Legislative (makes law) It has the House and Senate. Executive (carries out the law) It has the President, Vice President, and the Cabinet. Judicial( evaluates laws) It has the supreme court and other federal courts.
5.Federalism- It is divide in to three. Enumerated Powers (National), Concurrent (both), and Reserved (State).
6.Embargo Act- It is an act the forbid the British to trade goods with the American. I intended to stop the growth of the British economy , but instead it gave the American a depression.
7.Impressments- During the Wan of 1812 the British would take American sailors and force the to fight for the British Navy.
8.Check and Balances-Each branch of the government has a control over the other.
9.Thomas Hobbes-Believed in the Monarchy. He stated that it was the best form of government.
10.Charles de Moresque- He believed the government should be divide in to three branches. Legislative . Executive. Judicial.
