Agenda: Thursday the 12th
1. Classwork: 2 part Critical Thinking Activity pgs 386-387.
A. Using the graph of population statistics in the 1800's determine the rate of population increase in percentage for the following years: 1800-1810, 1810-1820, 1820-1830, and 1830-1840. The first set of dates was done in class.
B. After reading the 2 pages create a 3 column chart and write 2 to 3 sentences to describe the characteristics of the farms in the North, South, and West. Second, indicate the similarities and differences of the farms in the North, South, West.
Option: Instead of drawing a 3 column chart you can create a 3 cirle venn diagram which would indicate the similarities and differences of the farms in the 3 regions.

Hearst Castle




Greetings students! 3 weekends ago, after living in California for 5 years, I finally had the chance to drive up the California coast along PCH and visit the famous Hearst Castle. Its located in tiny San Simeon, CA.
Hearst Castle was built by William Randolph Hearst, former newspaper tycoon. His father struck it rich when he discovered the famous Comstock Lode, a gigantic silver mine, and so his family was a wealthy one. He was a collector ancient artifacts. There were Egyptian and Roman artifacts at the castle. Below are a just a few pics of my trip to see the castle. If and when I have time I may get around to posting a few more :-)
